AGM
2020 should be a momentous year for our club with the development of new club facilities at Athlone Regional Sport’s Centre, this was the general consensus by members at our well attended AGM. Members present were very realistic in expressing the views that total dedication and hard work will be required in seeing this major project coming to fruition.

Men’s Winter Doubles League
Our winter doubles league winners last Monday were Lukasz Mierzwa and Vijyant Singh with joint second placed duos Des Windsor Mc Glynn & John Cooney and Dave Costello & Nigel Coyle gaining three points each. Rob Kearney and Sai Palada were third placed, John Bray and Marek Rose also were point winners.
Junior Tennis Competitions
Junior tennis competitions continue every Sunday from 2pm with Lisa organising the events.
Christmas Hamper Competitions
Our junior Christmas hamper competition will be played Sunday 8th December from 2 - 4pm and the senior will be the following Sunday from 11 – 1pm.
The Davis Cup Finals
Spain won their sixth Davis Cup at the weekend thanks to the imitable Rafael Nadal who won all his matches having a 2-0 win over Denis Shapovalov in the final. Roberto Bautista Agut overcame the challenge of Felix Auger Aliassime by a similar score. The new format for the competition had many positives, the doubles deciding matches were very entertaining. The organisers can easily sort out the initial teething problems, the main one seeing a match running until after 4am.
Sunday’s Mixed Doubles
Itziar Del Palos, Rose Costello and Evgeniia Yurchenko partnered Vijyant Singh, Dave Costello and Isaac Del Palos respectively to enjoywere among the competitors participating in friendly games in the wintry sunshine last Sunday.
Junior Coaching
Clem continues coaching sessions every Saturday starting at 10am for children 4 to 8 years old. At 11 he coaches children ages 9 to 12 and from 12 he coaches older children. Please contact Clem at 0864022490 for further details.
