Men’s Summer Doubles League
The men’s summer doubles league continues every Monday, the three leading players are Marek Rose, Dave Costello and Sai Palada; they are the only players with full attendance also. The draw for partners is at 7.30 and all members are welcome to participate. The four point winners last week were Cathal Kenny and Marek Rose. Joint second and three point achievers were duos Rob Kearney/Declan Finn and Dave Costello/Isaac Saz Del Palos. Gaining two points were Sai Palada, Atin Kohli and Puneet Nayyer. Kieran Mc Carthy and John O’ Connell were also point winners.
Wednesday: Ladies Night
Stephane Kenny and Elaine Keogh were among the group of ladies playing and enjoying the action on a fine summer’s evening. Ladies captain, Lola Fernandez Palos, Evgenyia Yurchenko and Rose Costello were among the competing group. Ladies have exclusive use of the courts every Wednesday and all members are welcome to participate, teams will be organised at 7.30.
Thursday & Sunday: Mixed Doubles
Thursday’s mixed doubles had more than a full house, nine couples competing. Nira and Sundar Balasubramanian enjoyed their first mixed doubles event. The competition was organised into two groups. Group one winners were Joan Conway and Dave Costello, first placed in group two were Evgenyia Yurchenko and Atin Kohli. Partnerships Stephane Kenny/Marek Rose, Deborah Mc Keown/Puneet Nayyer, Ann O’ Sullivan/John O’ Connell, Mary Jo O’ Farrell/Michael Doheny also enjoyed the night’s action.
It was very much a family event Sunday morning owing to a very wet Saturday. However Lola Fernandez and Dave Costello played and enjoyed a four setter against Rose Costello and Isaac Del Saz Palos.
Senior Singles Summer Leagues

Coaching
Clem Higginbotham’s coaching sessions continue every Saturday at 10am for children 5 to 9 years old. At 11 he coaches children ages 10 to 12 and he coaches older children from 12 noon. Please contact Clem at 0864022490 to register for these sessions as numbers are limited.
Wimbledon
Thirty nine year old Serena Williams was very unfortunate to slip and fall, during her first match at Wimbledon last week, her injury forcing her to retire. Roger Federer, also thirty nine, also had a fall, but is playing exceptionally well and is into the fourth round of the championship, his twenty first Grand Slam would please a great number of people. Number one seeds Ash Barty, seeking her first Wimbledon title, and Novak Djokovic, seeking his twenty Grand Slam title, are on course to lift the trophies.
