Ladies and Men’s Annual Doubles Competitions
The tournaments committee have made the draws for the ladies and men’s annual doubles competitions and these will be completed this week.
The men finalists will be decided on Monday 8th and the ladies will be playing their preliminary rounds on Tuesday 9th. The finals will take place this Thursday 11th with the winning lady duo being presented with the Ida Smith cup and the winning men’s combination lifting the Dave Costello cup.

Senior Summer Leagues
The ladies and men’s summer leagues are making steady progress with a lot of matches played during the past week. In the men’s league Pawel Michalski is striding ahead with his fifth win and maximum points achieved so far. Other winners were Martin O’ Rourke, Sean Raftery and Dave Costello.
Sine Mac Farlane and Anne Dooley were convincing winners in the ladies league.
Social Tennis
During Monday night’s tennis session Joe Gill and Jan Groenendijk were a formidable partnership, the former playing consistent baseline rallies while Jan had a fair share of winners at the net.
Tuesday night was also quite a busy one for the ladies. New members Annette Dalton and Liz Sugar were among the competitors who played exceptionally well.
Jacinta Digby and P J O’ Reilly teamed up and were a winning combination during Thursday night’s mixed doubles competition.
Coaching
Clem Higginbotham continues coaching lessons for junior members every Saturday. The lessons begin at 10 for children under 8, at 11 for under 12 and at 12 o’ clock for over 12 years of age. His contact number is 0864022490.
Coaching for junior members continues every Tuesday and Friday. Every Tuesday at 5 o’ clock coaching is for children ages 10-12 and at 6 o’ clock for children ages 13 to 15. Friday coaching also starta at 5 o’ clock for children ages 5 to 9 and at 6 o’ clock for children 10 to 13. Derek Stenson is the coach and further details can be obtained at 0851080013.
He is also organising lessons for adults Wednesdays or Fridays for interested individuals.
