Annual Mixed Doubles
Our annual mixed doubles will be starting Monday 23rd May with the final on Thursday 26th. The official form is now in the clubhouse must be signed by Thursday as the draw will be made at 9.30 that night.
Spring Leagues
All spring league matches have to be played by this Thursday 19th and the ladies and men’s pyramids will be updated by the weekend based on the results of all the matches. Two players from each division will be promoted and likewise two have to face the inevitable drop.
Either Lisa Brennan or Paula Dowling are favourite to top the ladies while it is a shootout between the Clarke brothers for top position on the men’s pyramid. Jeremy has the edge over Tim and the smart money is piling on to the former as he remains undefeated in the top group.
Junior Coaching
Derek Stenson coaches every Tuesday and Friday for children from age 6 to 16 starting at 5pm. For details on the above and all related coaching and junior activities you can contact Derek at 0851080013.
He plans to have inter club tournaments with children from Moate and Tullamore Tennis Clubs in late May. There are some very good junior players coming through at present and these events will further advance their tennis development.
Clem Higginbotham will commence coaching on Saturday May 7th for children under 7 at 10am. Children ages 8 to 11 have coaching at 11 and coaching for older children will start at 12. Clem can be contacted at 0864022490.
Social Tennis
Michael Bleahene and Tomasz Manik were among the large group of men having an excellent night’s tennis last Monday on a very fine summer’s evening.
Paula Dowling and Mary O’ Neill also enjoyed some amazing weather and tennis matches last Tuesday.
Anne Dooley and Alex Ocsenas are both very formidable tennis players and were solid performers in the mixed doubles over two hours of friendly competitive tennis.
Social tennis continues on three nights of every week and potential players wishing to have a go at playing the game are most welcome to come along, play commences at 7.30. Men compete every Monday, the ladies play every Tuesday while mixed doubles competitions are held every Thursday.
