Men’s Spring Doubles Competition
This competition concluded last Monday with a large number of competitors playing for the final points on offer. It was in fact a very multicultural night for tennis as six different nationalities played on the night namely Polish, Spanish, Indian, Romanian, English and Irish. The spring doubles league was very competitive, enjoyable and successful thanks to the organisational ability of men’s captain Des Windsor Mc Glynn. This was a doubles competition with a difference as players had different partners every Monday.
Last week the winners on the night were Kieran Mc Carthy and Oisin Stronge, the runners up were Des Windsor Mc Glynn and P J O’ Reilly. However the person who accumulated most points over the spring months was Marek Rose. As well as being an excellent doubles player it helped that he was marked present every week. In second place was Des Windsor Mc Glynn with Ghanshyam Godara having accumulated the next highest number of points. The summer doubles league will commence on Monday 24th April.
Mixed Doubles Competition
Mixed doubles competitions are organised every Thursday at 7.30 and every Sunday at 10am. Last Thursday’s winners were Jacinta Digby and Edwardo Ballesteros Ribera. Joint second couples were the Rose Costello/Richard Frank and Mary Jo O’ Farrell/Dave Costello combinations.
This best performers during the mixed doubles on Sunday were Lisa Brennan and Marek Rose with Jacinta Digby and Dave Costello the runners up.
